London-based French pianist / composer Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch has been commissioned by the London Contemporary Orchestra to write a piece for a string ensemble. Described as being “approximately 8 minutes long, written for a string ensemble consisting of 1 violin, 2 violas, 3 cellos, 1 double bass and live electronics”, the piece will be premiered in the beautifully resonant space of the Tanks at the Tate Modern on 6th September, as part of the BBC Proms.
The programme also includes a collaboration between the LCO and London-based electronic artist Actress; new work by Catherine Lamb; Cassandra Miller’s evocative, folk-inspired Guide performed by vocal ensemble Exaudi; and Rodrigo Constanzo’s dynamic performances with light and sound. It will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.
